Creation of a new Role Playing Game System

So after a very long time and many nights in bed contemplating if I should ever publish some of my material I came to the conclusion that I need a Gaming system to write for.

I am a huge fan of Unisystem by Eden Studios, Traveller by Mongoose Publishing and like some bits and pieces of Chaosium’s Basic Role Play system.

After years of hosting games using the Unisystem I started to Home-brew a lot of content to use in my own settings. I have added an extra secondary stat called Power, a form of mana so a character can perform a Spell, Mutation, Ritual and many more things. After that I added new skills, new rules for cybernet, Cybernetics, weapons, tomes, artefacts and much, much more.

Then one day the idea crept into my mind if I would like to publish my District setting, I realized that Eden Studios does not have a OGL or something similar so that posed a problem. My home-brewing came to a halt realizing I couldn’t publish it by myself. So the idea of an own gaming system formed in my mind. I thought about using a D100 system but in the end I figured that it was the same as Unisystem but with D100 instead of a D10. I let the idea rest and even thought that I won’t be able to create a system that would be a bit different but easy and fun to use.

Skip about 2 years and we have come to this point in time, so I have decided to go on with the idea of building my own gaming system. No more D100 as the base dice, no more an almost 1 by one Unisystem clone but a system that has influences and even some ideas of all my favourite gaming systems and trying to add a “new” idea or two.

The basics have been written and ideas have formed in my mind, at some point I will ask others for help and check if the system is viable. At some point there will be a Beta of this system and I will write more additional material to add flavour to a setting.

Maybe some day I will be satisfied enough to even try to publish this idea, some day.
