So I have arrived at the Stats section, the frame of a character and what it needs to add to rolls.
Stats can be very difficult, I have had a hard time letting go of conventional names, or that there should be six stats, do I create secondary stats? And later on will every Stat be related to certain skills or do I keep it separated and let every situation call for a different roll. For example; recognizing a firing weapon would be Intuition and the firing weapon skill to recognize it but to shoot it would be Agility and the weapon skill. Does it need to be repaired? Well that is a different skill altogether in my opinion. But lets go on with this blog.
I have been thinking of having seven different ones, each one represent a persons Physical, Mental and Social base. I have settled on 7 stats, after that a combination of Main Stats will “sprout” secondary stats indicating Health, Power, Movement, Initiative and probably other ones that I have not thought about yet.
The seven Stats I have chosen to use:
Strength – Everything strength related like weight lifting and such.
Agility – Nimbleness, dexterity, and other feats involving balance and such.
Durability – Vitality, physical perseverance and health.
Rationality – Smarts, Intelligence and know-how
Intuition – Perceptiveness, hunch and experience
Discipline – Willpower, mental perseverance and mystical.
Social – Charisma, communication and interaction.
Secondary stats:
Health (Strength + Agility + Durability × 10) – A Characters Health/Life Points
Power (Strength + Agility +Durability + Rationality + Intuition + Discipline + Social × 2) – The channelling of inner strength to perform extraordinary actions. Like Spells, Rituals, Mutations and much more.
Descent (Character starts with 100) – Ones Descent into insanity.
Movement (Agility + Durability × 0.5) – Meters a character can move in a round besides standard actions
Full Movement (Movement × 3) – If a player decides to give up all standard actions and decides to only move.
Speed (Movement × 3.6 Rounded Down) – A characters maximum speed while running while not in combat rounds. It is in Kilometres per hour.
Initiative (Agility + Bonuses gained by Edges) – How fast someone reacts in combat rounds.
I am still contemplating to have a few more secondary stats and if they are needed. The one I am thinking about most is “looks” to indicate how someone looks like. The idea is that 0 is an average looking person and the higher the more beautiful in some way and below zero is how unattractive someone is in some way. None of the main stats will have influence on the looks secondary stat but Edges will be of influence.
(A short note about Edges; something similar to feats or Flaws and merits from White wolf or Qualities and Drawbacks from Unisystem etc. etc. Edges that can help a character or give a disadvantage.)
